Researchers often follow Chicago citation style for documentation. Link to the latest (2010) edition here:
The American Political Science Association (APSA) has also published a brief style manual, based on the Chicago Manual, available from their website.
Many databases provide citations for the articles they list. You must click first on the article title in the results list, then on Cite (in right side bar) to see examples you can copy & paste into your bibliography. In JSTOR, click View Citation.
Come to the Library Services Desk in Cooper Library's lobby for these printed manuals and help with using them.
