10 Step AI Challenge

A guide that encourages students and faculty in higher education to play with and explore AI tools and resources

Step 10: Citing AI Responsibly

Welcome to Step 10 of the Clemson Libraries AI Challenge!

In the final challenge, we will explore ways to properly cite the use of AI tools. However, because this technology is so new, there is some debate as to the exact way to acknowledge the use for academic purposes.  Our hope is that this challenge will help you think about how you can ensure that those encountering your work know where and how you used AI.

Let’s get started!

Challenge: Watch this video to learn more about acknowledging the use of AI

Reflect

  • Consider the implications of AI on the concept of authorship. What does it mean to be an author when parts of the text are generated by AI? How do you define and acknowledge your contribution versus that of the AI?
  • Reflect on the importance of being transparent about the use of AI tools. How does disclosing AI assistance in your work promote honesty and integrity in academic environments?
