EndNote 21, the latest version of the product, is available for all Clemson faculty, staff, and students to use at no additional cost. The site license also includes access to the upgraded EndNote Web.
If you have previously used a paid or trial version of EndNote, it must be uninstalled first. It’s recommended that you sync your library with EndNote Online before a new installation.
After EndNote 21 is installed, you can upgrade EndNote Online to EndNote Web. New users should activate their EndNote Web account to enable syncing of reference libraries.
(NOTE: Unzip/extract both files to a folder first, before opening the installer. If you are asked for a product key, it's because you didn't extract both the EN21Inst.msi AND the License.dat files first. Do this, and try the installation again)
Before you download and install EndNote, you should review the system requirements for your computer.
For Windows
As Clemson has a site license for EndNote, you should NOT be asked for the product key. To avoid this:
Before you download and install EndNote, you should review the system requirements for your computer.
There are two versions of EndNote Online: the classic version, and the version just for EndNote 21 users. Both can be accessed here.
EndNote Online is perfect for users who like to work across multiple computers or are collaborating with researchers at multiple institutions.
Remember when using EndNote Online, you can only have ONE library. If you only use one library on EndNote desktop, this won't be a problem. However, if you create multiple libraries for different projects, you'll need to be sure to select a library to sync to EndNote Online that you intend to always use. We recommend having a library on your desktop version that you will know is mapping to EndNote Online so you can move around your references as needed.
