10 Step AI Challenge

A guide that encourages students and faculty in higher education to play with and explore AI tools and resources

Step 1: What is AI?

Welcome to Step 1 of the Clemson Libraries AI Challenge!

The landscape of generative AI is quite complicated and constantly changing. It is not always clear where AI tools pull information and users must always be aware of bias and excluded information. There are some tools that are more responsible and inclusive than others, but all generative AI tools should be approached with caution and any sensitive or private information should not be shared without a full understanding of how your data will be used by the tool. • Consider the tools and resources powered by AI that you’ve used, such as data analysis software, virtual labs, or online libraries.

  • Having an understanding of what AI is and what it is not can help understand how to use it most powerfully. In what ways do you think AI will shape your future career or field of study?
    • Reflect on the potential changes AI might bring to your profession, including job opportunities, ethical considerations, and the need for continuous learning.
