A guide to finding and using microfilm and microfiche at the Clemson University Libraries

Microfilm & Microfiche Locations

South Carolina newspapers on microfilm are located on 4th floor West of Cooper Library.

All out-of-state newspaper and journal microfilm/fiche are located at the Library Depot. You may request a journal article or reels of newspaper microfilm. Articles will generally be scanned and emailed with 24 hours. Newspaper reels will be delivered to the Library Services Desk in Cooper Library.

Government documents microforms are located on the 3rd floor of Cooper Library.

Equipment to view and print microforms is available on 4th floor West outside the Resource Sharing Office. Ask for assistance at the Library Services desk.

Where is the Library Depot?

The Clemson University Library Depot is located at Clemson Research Park in Anderson, SC and houses the University Records Center, the Library Off-Site Shelving, and the Libraries' Digital Initiatives unit. Off-site Shelving is where little-used library materials are stored to alleviate overcrowding in the on-campus libraries.

The Library Depot is not open to the public. Clemson students, faculty, and staff may use the online request forms to request materials housed in off-site shelving. Community patrons may also request reels of microfilm/fiche using the online forms.

Request Forms

For Instructors

If you assign a project that requires students to use a section of microfilm, please request the microfilm reels be placed on Reserve so that students can access the film when needed.

Example: Students need to browse a specific newspaper or magazine for a topic during the 1950s.
